Hello. Welcome to douggoonDOTcom. All about Doug Goon. This site is pretty worthless, not going to lie. Hopefully you will get at least something from this site and if not, I apologize for wasting valueble time out of your day. To start out, Doug Goon is just a simple man, with simple needs. Doug Goon was a very eligible and disease free bachelor, and now he is simply disease free. Doug Goon has a wonderful family that he is truly greatful for. Last but not least, Doug Goon has friends that he cherishes for every single detail and flaw that they have which sounds cliche, but in fact is the truth. But enough about Doug Goon, lets talk a bit about me.

2.22.07 -- 9:00 a.m. -- IN MY PROJECTZ

This just in, Saint Paul certainly doesn't house the brightest bulbs or the most classy.

Of course, this is no surpise to anyone however, after living in tha ghetto for a good three-four years, it is easy to understand how one could learn to overlook such obvious signs. Alas, I have been returned to reality courtesy of the new Rainbow foods Midway and the McDonalds off of University and Cretin/Vandalia.

Exhibit A: [note: click these images to fully appreciate them in thier entirety]

Please take note, that this wall-mounted sign is currently displayed in Rainbow foods Midway right next to the bakery/candy section. At first glance, it is slightly unnoticable, the font is curvy and the alphabetic character "z" is not far off from "s". However, it still doesn't change the fact that, in the english language, the word surprise uses an "s" rather than a "z". After a minute of thought, I huddled with Emily and we pondered what could really be going on here because someone, somewhere, had to have noticed by now, this mis-spelling. Alas, no definitive conclusion was made, and in the end, I simply chalk it up to the legacy of what is, Saint Paul Midway. "It's just what it do."

Exhibit B:

This image was taken while waiting in the McD's drivethrough [for the two big macs for three dollars, which is, to say the least, a damn good nutriciously spectacular purchase] Honestly, I believe the sign speaks for itself and maybe it's just me on this one. Maybe the Mcdonalds in Edina has this exact sign up as well however, I have the sneaking suspicion that it doesn't. I completely understand what the local McD's employees are thinking. In fiscal year of 05', Mcdonalds net income was only 2,602.2 million dollars. By thinking small and charging extra for salad sauce, chickens sauce, and, you know, a lil sumtin sumtin for sippin on syrup, they could probably double their yearly net income. Do I fault them? Of course not, who needs money more than the McDonalds company?

This is the end of my I love Saint Paul rant. If I have misinterpreted any of these ghetto-fabulous examples, please fault me to the fullest extent. Thats all for now folks.

2.19.07 -- 10:00 a.m. -- I know I know, I am terrible with the updates. Terrible is an understatement. But rest assured, this update is going to make up for it, promise I do.

To start off the new year, we attended una fiesta a la Pete and Lynnlee's house way out in BFE. They had a casino themed gathering with an actual crapps table, blackjack, and poker chips for all. A few pics. New years eve also turned out to be one of the biggest snowstorms of the winter. We spent the day gamblin away our hard earned dinero at Mistake Lake. Gotta love that buffet. To all who have not partooken [yes, that was just said] in the mistake lake buffet, it is well worth the twenty bucks. I mean, it's not Four Aces Deadwood, SD but, it is deliciously excessive and I am hooked. Must- get items:
-the salmons [seasoned, expensive from the grocery store, and heart healthy :)]
-the mini corn dogs [any high school food will forever be delicious]
-the salad bar [almost as good as OCB, nuff' said]
-the dessert island [because they have soft serve ice creams and hot brownies]
Last month, Emily started her new job. So far the place seems great and they take good care of her with tempurpedic chairs , fancy new computers and a nice big office. She is also a lot closer to me which is good for driving and lunches :) Even though it isn't her dream career, it is a good start and I am so so proud of her. Along with the new job, she got a high- end remote starter This puppy is really really awesome. While it was an expensive unit/install cost, the fact that it works half a mile away, gives you confirmation start signal, has replaced her remote keyless, and comes with an alarm makes it well worth it. She simply couldn't be happier with her purchase. Especially since Old Man Winter has been testing the temperature limits of us Minnesotans over the last couple of weeks... burrrrrrr

On a sad note, all three seasons of Las Vegas have been completed. I will miss those guys, their jokes, and thier strategery in solving crimes/busting cheats...sigh. I did however, pass the torch to parents Cook so hopefully they will enjoy it just as much as Emily and I did. Speaking of Las Vegas, I will be enjoying all the strip has to offer in less than two weeks! I'm talking about rolling sevens, elevens, hard eights/sixes all night long, watching American Superstars, and eating at some of the grandest buffet's that the Estados Unidos has ever seen. God, I love that town.

Lots of birthdays, my gramps, uncle mike and Lisakapisa had birthdays. For Lisa's big day, Em, Lowha, Nate and I tripped it to EauC to hit the Water St. bars. Pictures of said event can by found here. On another family note, my sister came home from Iowa, for good! I am so happy to have her back. She is workin at back at Byerly's restaurant, and has applied to the U for next year. I seriously could not be happier to have her back. The family events are like triple times two hundered better with her there, she makes me laugh and smile, and I know that the pup missed her almost as much as parents Goon and I.

I think every one knows about the new Gopher football coaching staff. All I can say is, it's been a nice run Glen. Maybe if they would have paid him a higher salary, we may have done the duty. The new coaches all seem nice thus far. I will miss some of the old guys since I've been working with em for about five years now. For the most part, I feel it was a needed change. Up next is our Basketball program, yikes.

The one dub oh five house has recieved a interior design upgrade. Ikea was kind enough to sell me a NY style coat rack and I also bought a bookshelf/liquor cabinet. I ended up drilling in the bar-style sliding wine glass holsters under the top shelf which also turned out really nice. [thanks again parents cook! :)] The parents Goon donated a nice new yellow couch as well. All in all, except for a few minor things, the upstars of the house is looking pretty snazzy. A little less bachelor pad-like and a little bit more, umm, como se dice... mature and or adult-like, if you will.

Valentines day came and passed. On the day prior to v-day, the fam, Em, and I had din din out at Ciao Bella in Edina, MN. That place continues to impress me. The food is so so so good it really is disgusting. So if you are ever in the area, and looking for a delicious [but pricey] meal, off of France Avenue, you won't be dissapointed. On the actual v-day, I worked and then had class so there wasn't much celebration. Em and I did have a little mini celebration with Red Baron's mexican pizza, sparking apple cider [yes, the fake champagne that we used to drink as kids...it's delicious] and some special dessert cookies. The dessert cookies were delivered to my office on Valentines day courtesy of Pah-may-lah. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter, more kind, caring mother. Thank you again Mom!

This last weekend consisted of card playing galore. Friday night the parents Cook were in town and we all played Trivial Pursuit to which Emily dominated, as usual. The next morning, Em and I got Perkin's Muffins and man were those delicious. A little heart healthy butter and some milk is like the perfect 'healthy' breakfast for me [as opposed to McD's two for three dollar Egg Mcmuffin sandwiches or the Big Breakfast Deluxe] which I have been frequently consuming as of late :\ Then the rentals Cook taught me how to play Euchre which was a first for me [but seriously, what a fun game] Doris and Emily were quite dominant but Dan and I had a couple of showstoppers in there as well [mostly Dan really]. Sunday Em and I ate chip dip and made beefy philly dillies[that picture really doesn't do them justice.. ours are a lot more appetizing and processed looking] , god I love those things. Then played cribbage with grams and gramps too [cribbage was a first for me as well] and both times I was the winner. Begginer's luck I guess.

Welp, thats pretty much it, for now, see ya in a couple months... just kidding. I am going to update after Vegas, of course.

P.S. I apologize if this update wasn't as great as I had promised. Here is some consolation entertainment: P.P.S. I also updated the pictures page with linkage appropriatage.
