Hello. Welcome to douggoonDOTcom. All about Doug Goon. This site is pretty worthless, not going to lie. Hopefully you will get at least something from this site and if not, I apologize for wasting valueble time out of your day. To start out, Doug Goon is just
a simple man, with simple needs. Doug Goon was a very eligible and disease free bachelor, and now he is simply disease free. Doug Goon has a wonderful family that he is truly greatful for. Last but not least, Doug Goon has friends that he cherishes
for every single detail and flaw that they have which sounds cliche, but in fact is the truth. But enough about Doug Goon, lets talk a bit about me.

12.27.06 -- 9:27 a.m. -- What a month. Many an event has passed with such rich content to share
with millions of dg.com readers. I sincerely hope I can transfer my thoughts to writing without my limited vocabulary,
poor grammar, and sentence structure diminishing your reading experience. Moving onward....
The Christmas season started off with a little parental get together. Don and Pam had a progressive dinner party in
which I was the designated captian of the Chevy Express fifteen passenger bus. Armed with keys and santa hat, I white
knuckled it around the metropolitan area for most of the evening. Appetizers at the Sveiven 's
house [Tim has been a landscaper since I was a young lad, and has demonstrated award winning work at places such as
Redstone, EP, see link]. Pic - notice my gameface:
After appetizers, it was off to the Cromets for Salad [they have the nicest house, sickest interior design, I am
embarassingly jealous], then back to the Wolff's for the main course, ending with desert at casa de Goon a la Victoria,
MN. Spending time with Tim & Vicki, John & Deb, Jeff, & Hannah, and Monique & Bob was actually quite entertaining.
All great people, with both great stories and great personalities.
For starters, Vicki has a stuffed doll [replica of her son] that she created by
filling her son's old clothes with newspaper and printing a picture of his face on photopaper [so he can spend the
holidays with the fam too, since he is in Bankok]. John and Deb are officially the nicest people ever. Growing up next
to them, as a "neighbor kid", I truly didn't get to know them very well however, after one night of Christmas celebration
and cocktails, I have come to understand the severity of thier niceness. Hannah and Jeff, always incredibly warm and
friendly [my 2nd family growing up], and Doctor Bob and Monique, well, they stole the show. Bob is exactly what I'd
expect from a Dr., friendly, easy to talk to, and equipped with intelligence. Not just any intelligence though, the
"good" kind. By the good kind I mean, the type thats sans arrogance and showboat-like-personality. Accompanied by
Monique, [super sweet and kind] they were the showstoppers of the evening [also the couple I knew the least]:
After the mobile dinner, all that was left for December was the JC b-day celebration. From the get go, I knew this year
would be tricky. First, on the 23rd, it was off to Chippewa Falls, WI to meet the Doris fam. First, let me say, that
Uncle Dale lived up to the hype. Although he wasn't what I had pictured physically from the stories D&D told, he was quite
the guy. A jokester, the type you want head to the bar with, an excellent cook [meatballs, mashed potatoes, green bean
caserole, stuffing and more], and a die hard packer fan, a guy who simply can't be outdone. The cousins Jake-the-snake
and Andria Slaby-baby were also very much fun [Andria - pool trick shots and Jake's play by play commentary = win].
For the white elephant gift exchange I gave the movie Soul Plane. I was expecting people to hate it, understand
that it was quite possibly one of the worst movie purchases ever [right after You Got Served] however, when the
gift was unwrapped I heard multiple shouts of, "I love that movie". Thus, failure is what I achieved in my first white
elephant gift exchange. Emily's gift was pure genius:
On the morning of the 24th I drove back to Saint Paul for Christmas Eve celebration with Grandma Goon [morning] Gramps and
Grams Long [evening]. Highlights of Grandma Goon's - Jook soup, sandwiches, presents and family pictures a la basement.
Grandma Long's is where the bulk of Christmas eve was spent. The dollar gift game was quite the time, as usual.
Squatter ended up getting the underwear this year:
There was also some family pictionary, yatzee, and many a Baileys on the rocks. Great gifts this year include: an awesome
18v cordlress drill [Stihl] from gramps, new pots and pans along with Birkenstocks from parentals, a wine glass set
complete with bar-like wine rack hangers from D&D [love you guys], and a shiny new
stainless steel toaster from Unc & Auntie. EDIT: I forgot about the presents from Emily becuase we opened so early. The
most impressive present I recieved, was the Moo-Mixer.
I wasn't even aware these existed until I opened mine. Let me say that this thing does what no spoon could ever do for
chocolate
milks. It's delicious. Also, there was the 24lb cookie subscription I recieved courtesy of Emc. Two pounds of cookies each
month, award-winning cookies from across the U.S. showing up at my doorstep. Bingo. Thanks to everyone for the gifts!
Christmas day, it was back on the road for me. Next on the list was the Dan Cook familiy celebration at Chris and
Michelle's. Two most memorable individuals, cousin Cole and his lady friend Bridget. Both Stout attendees and have been
together since 8th grade, both were comical and I definately want to road trip it to Stout in the near future. Sidenote:
Both Dan and Doris were sick with the flu on Christmas day :( I hope you guys are better!
After the Cook Christmas, Em and I high tailed it back to Victoria, MN for the Goon family get together. It was good to
see the goon family since I missed out on Thanksgiving this year. [bad cousin, nephew Doug]. The new Goon townhouse was
quite full and much more cozy than the old house. In sum, many an hour spent over the Christmas Holiday driving. I think
the total is just under 600 miles. Go me! Pic - Me white-knuckling it:
Thats all for now folks [I know I wrote way too much]. Another dg.com update is forthcoming post New Years. I know you
await with breath abated. Don't try and lie to yourself about it either.
P.S. After the progressive Christmas dinner finished and I was driving everyone home, I hit my first deer. It was a Doe.
Up against the Chevy Express
P.P.S. This years Christmas pictures.
12.5.06 -- 3:02 p.m. -- Welp, today is my berfday. Twenty three whole years gone by. I don't really
have any words of wisdom or any I-am-getting-so-old-now-examples. Simply another year older, another year by. But twas a
a good year none the less.
Since last update, there has been a grand thanksgiving celebration.
This thanksgiving was pretty dang fun. All the food one can eat [of course] followed up with a lemon drop martini mixer
[or two], with some good old fashioned family poker, and I'd call it the best Thanksgiving I've had, ever. I was able
to bring Emily with for this joyous occasion and even she had a good time. One would think that all family
Thanksgivings consist of the same glorious food however, just in case, here are the top five for this years
best foods consumed, in order from most delicious to least delicious:
1. Green bean casserole.
[creamy soup and green beans with crunchy potatoes on top].
2. Mashed potatoes and gravy.
3. Turkey.
4. Dinner rolls with butter.
5. Cream cheese n celeri.
I'll have you note, there is no stuffing on there simply becuase it's not my bag. Muy mal.
There was also a birthday celebration last weekend held at the Great Mandarin
Long grandparents with mike, grandma goon and jack all made it out for some Chinese grub. If you are ever in the area,
or not in the area but just want good Chinese food, stop there. After dinner there was more poker at my
parents house with more cake and more family QT. I also got to visit the parentals new Victoria townhome. It was
top notch real nice and quite a downsize from the Chanhassen rig and its in the boondocks of Victoria. For the
birthday I got a nice new leather briefcase and some new silverware. It was present perfection. Thank you mama y papa
for the birthday celebration!
Christmas fast approaching, the Christmas music has already flooded the officeplace, and I have alreaedy purchased and
eaten a whole bag of holiday mint M&Ms.
