Hello. Welcome to douggoonDOTcom. All about Doug Goon. This site is pretty worthless, not going to lie. Hopefully you will get at least something from this site and if not, I apologize for wasting valueble time out of your day. To start out, Doug Goon is just a simple man, with simple needs. Doug Goon was a very eligible and disease free bachelor, and now he is simply disease free. Doug Goon has a wonderful family that he is truly greatful for. Last but not least, Doug Goon has friends that he cherishes for every single detail and flaw that they have which sounds cliche, but in fact is the truth. But enough about Doug Goon, lets talk a bit about me.

7.2.08 -- 4:54 p.m. -- Mmmmm two more whole months... but lots of pictures to make up for the delay? Te gusta las fotos, no?

Ahhh summer alas, grillouts, car washing, hot cars on university avenue, porkys, DQ, snuffy's malt shop, and lake calhoun. It doesn't get any better than this. So far lots of grillouts, rockband, and grillouts. The latest being the Josh n Linds, Rita n Leo, Schaef, Emily, and Doug beer brat/veggie boat/boccee ball/rockband-apalooza. [sidenote: to the Kellins, I am still sorry about burning the beer brats to this day] Anywho, probably the greatest rock band song I've ever partaken in, Simple Man, Skynard, with Josh Wilson on vocals, and.... well the rest need not be said, he's that amazing. Pudding below:

Let us not forget the session before though. No man, and I say no man as seriously as sin, can rock the vocals as serious as Patrick PumpOne Kellin. Like, if you were to sing a song, and not feel it as much as you should, and then go gel up your hair like a rockstar, would you sing better? I don't know the answer, you'll have to ask Pat. Yes, I was able to capture a digital freeze frame in time:

I think that picture says it all, really. Mad Mark on the drums, and the tot tired out after he and Roxy played chase all night.

Emily's birthday came and went. She is now a real live 23-year-old. Not too much exciting about 23, at least that I can recall. We did celebrate with my folks at our house BBQ style. She got a whole truckload of tootsies and a really cute tanktop/shorts combo de mis padres. Additionally, Pam and Don brought over a scrumtulescent cake, one of the top 5 I've ever had. [siderant: sometimes cakes are just too sweet for my tooths. It takes a certain type of texture, moisture, and thickness of frosting to truly be a scrumtulescent cake. I think it may be the yogurt/cream cheese frosting that I am such a sucker for but either way, deliciousness] Thanks again family for coming over to celebrate.

Moving right along to the Cook fam, Dan, Dori, Em and I all went out to Famous Daves for the b-day celebration. It was my first time eating at a Famous Daves [how un-american of you Doug]. Regardless of novice experience, I still dove in head first [you got to] ya, thats right, the BIG SLAB. Supposedly their biggest meal, aint nothin for the good ol iron stomach. All joking aside, it was a lot of food. A full rack of ribs, slaw, corn on cob, and two additional sides. My heart was gettin a good workout. I liked it. Game set match Doug.

That following Saturday, it was the Eric G. graduation party. Steve and his brother Mike had this massive grill [100 brats a cook cycle, ya they don't fool around there, strictly business socks] with coals at the bottom and a rack that flipped 180 degrees for rotational cooking of wrapped meats. I don't know if I have ever been that jealous of cooking hardware, ever. Served up the brats with some kraut, they did, and all the beer you can drink, equals a pretty good time. Thanks again Diane and Steve for such a really fun day.

Grandma B and the Grad:

Since the summer has started, Tatertot has been a crazy wild outdoorsdeg [note: outdoorsmen, no, deg-dog, yes]. He has even tested out his swimming legs [not by choice mind you]. He is quite the paddler too. Just don't dare put him in the water with say, Bailey the boxer or she will dunk him underwater. I don't think dogs can hold their breath? Pudding you ask? 1 2 3

He has also been playing hard at the dog park too. The other degs slobber on him and then he rolls around in the mud pretty much , every, single, dang, time.

The DELLS! I almost forgot about the annual trip to Yogi bear Jellystone Dells, WI. Well this year may have been one of the best EVAR! The big Colossal, was extra colossal, Noahs ark, was extra empty [no lines for slides], and Pirates cove got eaten up by my Greg Norman like putting skillz. The week before we left, there was heavy rainfal/storm damage so much so that Tommy Bartlett's lake got washed away when the dam broke. This meant very few visitors for the Dells the entire weekend. We nearly had the whole overflow lot to ourselves not to mention it was pretty much the nicest weekend ever. Pat, Dave, and Emily, thank you for another awesome year.

Back in the end of May, Dave and I took a road trip down to Chi-town. The whole trip can be summed up by, lots of tolls to pay and all their roads are in crap condition [where does that toll money go?], delicious food at Portillos hot dog/sammich shop [definitely make an effort to stop there if you are ever in chicago, it's worth it], a really awesome Marriott business hotel room for Dave and I courtesy of Donald G and his Marriott points [thanks again Dad], and lastly, a proffessional tune for Nadine and she has never felt better.

What is a professional tune [protune]? Disclaimer: stop reading now if you aren't into cars and you don't want to hear me ramble about Nadine. Basically the P and L motorsports technicians strap my car up to a dynamometer put fans all around her, and then a so called "Professional Tuner" connects to the cars computer to smooth out air fuel ratios, and unleash the most power and torque that the car can handle, safely. Note the last word there. The whole process looks something like this:

Well, to say the least, every penny I paid P and L was worth it. Jorge is an oustanding tuner, and thats an understatement. He's tuned hundreds of cars and he's definitely got the chops. So much so that when the tune was minutes away from being done, finished, booked, sealed, and stamped, and because the OEM clutch is manufactured for 300hp/300tq - CRANK, my clutch started to slip. I don't know if these are the exact words but he pretty much said, "if I keep going, you guys aren't even going to make it to Madison." So that was the end of that. At 41k miles, and putting down numbers like these it was well worth it. Dave and I did make it back home on the stocker, I've never driven Nadine so softly, and a week later she was in the shop for a new clutch.

Here is where things get tricky. Before this incident, I didn't know much about clutches. What was good? What isn't? What is a puck clutch, whats the difference between 4-puck and 6-puck? Well I had my sights set on a slightly heavier duty clutch than the stocker when I went in to RS Motors. Lee however, talked me into an at-cost-priced Exedy Hyper Twin Disc Racing clutch rated at over 500 ft/lbs of torque. That sumbit will last forever.

Nearly a month later, and countless times stalling Nadine because I had become so accustomed to driving a mushy clutch, she is back in action pulling harder than ever. Yes, it's good to own and STI. A recent photoshoot.

Still on the topic of cars, Dave recently got his Speed3 [Iris] Dyno'd at MAPerformance. He put down some decent numbers but his car is still running very rich. It used to smoke quite a bit from burnt oil however, mowwies mazda just replaced his turbo a couple of weeks ago and now she is smoke free.

Also, some mnmazda meet photos here.

Disclaimer: Car talk will cease here, I promise :)

Also, the month of May brought another wedding. My cousin Joe and his beautiful bride Yara got married down in a little town in Iowa called Amana. I didn't know this prior to arriving but it is a tourist attraction and has quite the heritage/history to it. I didn't get any good pictures of the town but did get a couple pictures of the wedding festivities. Congratulations again Joe and Yara, I am really happy for you two!

Aye, this weekend is July 4th. The plans are to head up to Siren, WI with Josh, Linds, Rita, Leo, Tatortot, two other degs, and la familia de Wilson for boating, fireworks, and fun. Aqui:

I have never been up there and I am really REALLY excited to see what its all about. Should be lots of pictures afterwards as well so perhaps next week when I update dg.com twice in one month *shudder* you will all get to relive the 4th once again through my eyes [or maybe two months from now.. no guaruntees].
