Hello. Welcome to douggoonDOTcom. All about Doug Goon. That is me. I am, Doug Goon. Moving on, please induldge yourself in my half assed writing attempts, my subpar website layout, and my novice [moving toward amateur] photography. Feel free to post a question in the ask section, or even just pop in to remind me how unreliable I and terribly infrequent I am updating the site. But seriously, enough about Doug Goon, lets talk a bit about me.

1.5.12 -- 9:21 p.m.

What is there to say about 2011. . . I thought it was spectacular.  Things that will always remind me of 2011

  • The following songs
    • Moves like Jagger
    • Britney – I wanna go (roadtrip to The South)
    • Stupid red solo cup song
    • 2011 was not the best year for music
  • Selling Tonya then buying Bernadette (Bernie)
  • Running my own I.T. department
  • The long and very fun road trip to The South, Georgia for JessiKrammes’ wedding
    • Meeting all the fabulous and infamous Scrumpets plus my main man Will
  • The passing of Grandma B, RIP BigB
  • First work trip / convention and first time in LA
  • First time leaving the country, Mexico my home away from home, vacay with family Cook.
  • The year I built the Dewalt monster, twin 6870s oompsk.

Please allow me to elaborate a bit on the above topics.  Let us begin with the selling of Tonya.  Did I absolutely love my 2003 Silverado 2500HD? Yes.  Was it not one of, if not the, most bad ass trucks toolin’ round the MN South metro area? It was.  Those of you in disbelief, I’ll kindly redirect you to Internets FS page so you can confirm the facts:

The short of it is that I just needed something a little more family oriented.  Emily and I are going to have a family soon and it’s time to pass the torch of Tonya the Monster Punisher on to someone else who can flex cajones.  She found a good home to a new owner in North MN by Brainerd and I’m off to bigger and better things:

So yea, there she is, in the flesh. Aint she a beauty?   Bernie is a 2007 with just under 70 on the clock, 6-speed Allison as opposed to the old 5-speed, crew cab, Access Cover, Line-x, non-rusted non-slippery step bars, leather, heated seats, etc. etc .  She is amazing and I luf her.

Next up, Emily and I’s first trip to The South, Savannah, Georgia.  The road trip down was just good ol’ fashion plain fun on the road.  We rented a red Corolla and they gave us the type-S version which might as well have been a V-Tech.  (oblig JUST KICKED IN YO!)  The best parts bout the trip were:

  • Non-stop eating of junk food, Chik a Fil, Steak and Shake,  Five Guys, Zaxbys, and this list is getting depressing so I’ll stop there…
  • JessiKrammes, HAB, MFP, JuliaSignal (scrumpets++), man time with Nate and Will
  • Savannah is a really neat city, with a channel where the biggest ships I’ve ever seen in my life manage to pass through
  • Paula Dean restaurant where the reception was held, sweat tea oh em gee if it didn’t have sixteen cups of sugar I would drink that stuff non-stop.
  • Passing up on ChatanoooOOOGaH (ick) only to stay at THE CARPET CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, Dalton, GA.  I Heart Dalton.
  • Lastly, my first Low Country Boil.  Hole – E –SHIT . If you don’t know what this is, Google it on the computer pages, it rocked my world.

Zoom, enhance, advance. Mexico.  You may be thinking, how could this possibly be your first time in Mexico at the ripe old age of 28? Or even worse, first time outa the country?  Doug, you’re a sheltered Midwesterner and you need to get out and see the world”.  Well I’m working on it.  In summation, Mexico was just what the doctor ordered.  What did the doctor order you ask?

  • Unlimited build your own nachos next to the pool with a swim up bar? Yes.
  • Unlimited sushi and many other on-resort restaurants including Italian, Steakhouse, Greek, and authentic Mexican? Yes.
  • So much sun and booze that I almost felt bad about what a POS I was for four days straight? Yes.
  • And to top it all off, I made it back safe and sound no worse for the wear.  Hot dog!

Catching up to the present time here, Christmas was very relaxing this year.  Eve day was spent at Emily and I’s house eating soup and sammiches.  Eve eve was spent as per usual at Grandma Long’s place in St. Paul, boozing, singing Christmas songs, and playing Christmas trivia (Emily dominates because she has a burning inner desire or how she would put it, “my quest for knowledge”).   Christmas Day was split between my parents’ house during the morning helping them prep for the extended fam and LawraPwnyOopslup’s house during the evening for schmancy chicken coq au vin and beef tenderloin.  Oh gosh, tenderloin… swoon.  Clik-pik below for xmas photo gallery:

2012 is here.  Wow.  In the immortal words of one of THE greatest coaches to ever grace the game of football, “Let’s gitchur dad gum chili hot!”

6.22.11 -- 5:55 p.m. Yikes, 2011 full on into it. Get some. Summer is flying by, MN weather has been garbage, and life couldn't be more hectic (yes it could). A few weekends ago was Jen and Kyle's wedding - it was awesome, catered by Bostons, much booze, much drink, and it was a pleasant reminder of just how far of a drive it is to Rapid City, SD. Congrats Jen and Kyle! pics can be found here:

This weekend I'm heading to LA for the S.E.A.T. Conference. It'll be my first time in LA so I'm pretty stoked. I'm especially looking forward to getting my grubby little hands on some super fresh sushi, om nom nom. A chance to get out and mingle with other nerds, tour Staples Center and experience all that LA has to offer.
