Hello. Welcome to douggoonDOTcom. All about Doug Goon. That is me. I am, Doug Goon. Moving on, please induldge yourself in my half assed writing attempts, my subpar website layout, and my novice [moving toward amateur] photography. Feel free to post a question in the ask section, or even just pop in to remind me how unreliable I and terribly infrequent I am updating the site. But seriously, enough about Doug Goon, lets talk a bit about me.

Start it off with a bang

Going to be a Dad. Wow. I wish I could promise the millions of dgDOTcom readers that you'll continue to see semi/bi-annual dg.com updates all about me, myself and I. Now that I am starting a fambly, it's likely going to be littered with kid pictures and stuff only a parent truly appreciates. Be forewarned. Alas, that time is not here yet and the so show must go on.

Well it certainly was quite the summer. In addition to trying for a baby, Emily spent quite a bit of time traveling around the states for work and I ended up selling the fastest car I've ever driven:

There she is (on the left) with her lover (Alltrac) on the right. It really came down to the month of July when I realized I'd driven her less than ten times all summer. As awesome as that car was, it was time to move on. I ended up selling it to a nice guy from St. Cloud who initially had plans of turning his 02 bugeye into a street monster like Dorothy. And since she was in immaculate condition, had nearly a perfect build, he acknowledged what a great opportunity it was. I ended up selling her for right around the price I bought her for. That helpded make my next purchase a little easier:

Yea, that's right. Yours truly is on two wheels. "Doug, first you announce that you're going to be a Dad then you announce you got a motorcycle? WTF" Yea, I know, not the BEST timing. The thing is, I only get one shot at life. Learning to ride and owning a sweet bike is on my to do list. Judge all you want but I couldn't be happiere with my V-rod. Doug - why would you pick that for your first bike!? Great question. I thought about buying something inexpensive on craigslist, learning to ride on that, not having to worry about laying it down, etc. But then, I know me, I know how I work, and I'd just end up selling it next year to get what I really want. I'm kind of tired of buying and sellilng vehicles (even though yours truly knows a thing or two about vehicle sales and always has a fall-back career if I.T. doesn't work out :P). Let's recap the last 10 years:

I've bought / sold / helped sell -

  • 03 MazdaSpeed Protege. Sold to a kid in E.P.
  • Emily's Saab 9-3. Technically the in-laws bought it, but I sold it.
  • 05 Subaru WRX STI (Nadine). Sold to some punk in Duluth who crashed it in less than six months. Anger.
  • 06 Toyota Rav4 (Stacey). Sold to a nice family
  • 98 Saturn SL2 (Berta). Sold to a local MPLS guy.
  • 03 Chevy 2500HD Duramax (Tonya)- Sold to good fella from Brainerd - love, love, loved that truck.
  • 06 C350 Merc (Yasmine) - Emily's DD
  • 07 Chevy 2500HD Duramax (Bernadette) - Family Diesel hauler
  • 02 Saturn SL (Myrtle) - My DD

Back on track here, Emily and I went as a 60's housewife (pregnet) and the Milkman for Halloween. The party was at Blake and Kara's new house bee tee dubs they got engaged and moved in the same week - mad props Blake. The party was quite fun and Tommy Hoeft singing on the mic was real special:

My Dad, Dano and I had been talking about doing a golf weekend for quite some time. This summer we finally got around to it. Cole, Don, Dano and I ended up playing 36 in July in EauC. The weekend was filled with gorgeous weather, a so-so UFC card, delicous BBQ, moar booze than I'd like to admit and some excellent company. Pics:

Somewhere in there was Chinese New Year? Memory. Getting. Bad. Old. Age. Pics:

We've already had the annual neighborhood Chili Cookoff. Emily and I ended up making "White Trash Chili" which turned out pretty awesome in my opionion (read:salty). We didn't take first place but a lot of people were saying "That white trash chili was real deeeeesss" (verbatim - jaykay). My neighbor Charles in charge built a bar in his garage - he's an design engineer by trade - I jelly. Emily's family reunion happened this summer - the big one. I've neve been to such a large family reunion. Uncle Dale asked yours truly to take some pics, so I did. They turned out aight:

Obama just got elected for another four years. Pot now is legal for recreational use in CO and Washington. MN voted no on amending constituion to prohibit gays from marriage. In less than one month, I am going to be one more year closer to thirty. Ugh. Getting old is for the birds. Until next time folks. . . DeeGee - out.
