5.30.06 -- 3:42 p.m. -- Summer is here. I know I said that last update but really, not up until last weekend did I feel the full wrath of summer. No, I am not talking about being swarmed by beautiful babies wearing next to nothing who want to party. I am talking about mother nature doing me in for ninety degree weather for three days straight. Bleh. Now some individuals enjoy this sort of thing but us guys, who have to deal with swutz, swalls and swack, know that the heat/humidity combo just causes problems.

Back on topic, since the 12th, quite a bit of excitement has come about. First, there was the drive-in. Nate, Sisters Cook and I all trekked [in the family Taurus] up to Woodbury for the Val-Hi experience. It was the first one of the year for me. Kicking things off with Kurt Russell in Poseidon, followed by Tom ‘not washed’ Cruise in Mission Impossible 3, and the showstopper/big finally Final Destination Three, I would be lying to say it wasn’t the best movie going experience I’ve had all year. The whole shindig can be summed up by the immortalizing words of Kurt Russell’s character, a washed up fireman, “Flash fire… superheats the air… burns the lungs like rice paper”.

Next was Mother’s Day at the Goon household. The rents stayed up all night Saturday baking/cooking their eyes out. Upon Sunday afternoons arrival, I found a monstrous table filled with crepes, corn muffins with maple butter, filet mignon, cheesy hash browns, sausage, quiche, corn flakey cheese egg goodness, and much more:

Along with the warm weather, comes the outdoors. My backyard is flourishing with the green sauce. Last week my lovely mother dropped by to plant flowers in the window boxs and in the back garden. Pictures to come by next update. I have also been washing cars like a mad dog. So far my Grampas, Nates, Sisters Cook, and my baby have all been to the dg driveway for baths. I washed and waxed the mazdaspeed two weekends ago plus took some pictures of her in all her glory. Since I haven't really shown her off since I purchased her back in February, here is a slew of digital stills.

A weekend ago I also had my first bonfire of the summer. We, when I say 'we', I really mean I, started boozing early and ended up paying the consequence upon arrival at Dsway's brother's place. Once we arrived [it was a shaky trip with Cookie behind the wheel], I climbed out of the car and proceeded to head to what I thought was dsway's place. I banged on the front door and shouted, "Open up, its the police!". Moments later Swens comes out from the next house over and it was at that point that I realized that it probably wasn't a good idea to be imitating the cops while juiced up. Anyway, the bonfire was amazing, and smores never tasted so good. Some pics.

Even more firsts of the year - golfing. My Dad, Uncle Rich, and I played Les Bolstad on what started out as a rainy day. By the end of nine it had cleared up and my golf game had not. I won't tell you how bad I actually played but lets just say that it wasn't pretty. Let us not forget, that is what first rounds are for. Like father like son:

This last weekend was really amazing. With the warm weather that was discussed above, Lake Riley, Lake Calhoun, and Memorial Day spent at Canterbury Park, it is pretty hard to say it wasn't the pinnacle of pleasantry. Not to mention, all the time I spent with Emily, she really is the best. Speaking of which, it's her birthday next Tuesday, the 6th. So if you happen to see this pretty face or this smiley grin:

be sure to wish her a happy birthday. :)

On that note friends, I will conclude this update. I know it was brief and bland but thats just the way the cookies crumble. Booyashaka.

P.S. I forgot to mention I finally got to meet Dan and Doris Cook [The Cook Sister's rentals]. Dinner at Macaroni Grill was amazing. Both Dan and Doris were super nice and I liked them alot.

P.P.S. JB officially got promoted to director of Tech Services and has a shiny new office. Nate gets back from Europe next week, thank god. Mix tape. Tape, mix.
